How to apply for one year as a volunteer in
the Associação Comunitária Monte Azul

Periods:

If you want to stay for one year as a volunteer in the Associação Comunitária Monte Azul, you can apply for two different periods. Normally volunteers start working in the end of January after the Brazilian summer holidays. But to ensure more continuity, there are more 5 places for volunteers who start in july.

As an exception we sometimes accept volunteers for half a year. Sometimes we receive application for different periods (e. g. September to February). We cannot accept them because Monte Azul wants the whole group of volunteers to start at the same time.

If you want to apply for a place as a volunteer in Monte Azul, we ask for the following documents:

• Handwritten Curriculum Vitae with foto
• Motivation letter explaining, why you want to volunteer for one year in the Associação Comunitária Monte Azul, what you can imagine to contribute to the work ( Ideas, new impulses, or concrete faculties and knowledges) and in which areas you would like to work.

The selection process:

Since volunteers have supported the work of the association, everyone has been a help for Monte Azul and has learnt very much as a person. Therefore the selection is very difficult, because we know, that everybody is able to contribute. We don’t expect any special qualifications, but try to select a variety of people with different experiences.

However there are two areas where we always need qualified volunteers:

• In our cultural center: teach music to children ( violin, violincello and other instruments, beginner-level).
• In the social workshop school: teach languages ( English, German, Japanese, Spanish, beginner and advanced level).

What do we expect from applicants?

Generally it’s very important that you’re interested in the work and philosophical background of the Associação Comunitaria Monte Azul (Anthroposophy). We can advise you to read Ute Craemer’s book (view "Publications").

You should be at least 20 years old an already have gained experiences in social work or waldorf education, e.g. through internshops…

You don’t need to speak the language when applying, but we expect you to learn some Portuguese when you are accepted.

After the end of the deadline, the volunteer-commission reads all the applications and tries to decide together.

We try to inform the applicants about one month after this.
