Given the elaborate work that the Associação Comunitária Monte Azul conducts with its 200 employees, it requires a firm financial base. Although we receive public funding from the city government of São Paulo, this capital covers less than 50% of our actual financial necessities.The rest of the money must therefore be gained from donations handed out by charities, private enterprises, or, most importantly, private individuals. Even small sums can be of great assistance to our work. Not only the inhabitants of the favelas we are active in benefit from them; it is the greater mission that is being nurtured, a path out of violence and suffering toward a more humane society in São Paulo.
